July “Member Profile”……Jennelle! (on the left)

Jennelle is a 5:15 am regular…..that says it all just right there! She has amazing discipline and she has come so far. It not only shows in her appearance but the numbers she has been posting up on the whiteboard are super impressive. All of us here at “SWB” are happy to have her here!

I was raised in a family where sports were a must. My Dad being athletic himself and having the fortune of raising four girls, sans boys….. Sports it was for us girls!

I enjoyed playing a variety of sports however, as soon as I hit High School…my priorities quickly were diverted to anything but sports, there were just so many other options that sparked my interest. This seems to have set a pattern for my life; anytime something better came along, sports and exercise were fired.

My daughter was born when I was 20, leaving me alone a lot of the time because my friends were all out. Therefore, I started going to the gym with my Mom every morning taking aerobics classes. It was a great break for me, and it was so wonderful spending that time with my Mom. I included running and Portland Marathon’s to my routine. This went on for about 4 years; however, the time came for me to buy my first house and it needed a lot of TLC… therefore… exercise was again fired.

A few years later, a friend of mine was turning 45 and wanted to do a Portland Marathon. After a few glasses of wine, my out of shape self said “I’ll do it with you”! Exercise was back on the payroll and up at the crack of dawn at 4:30 we were hitting Weir road. After the marathon was over, we continued to walk for a while; however, my new house again needed a lot of TLC…you can guess where it left exercise.

Again, a few years went past… I was at a graduation party with my sister in law who took a picture of me, and tagged me in it on Facebook. I was horrified to see what I looked like to say the least. I quickly de-friended her and put exercise back on the payroll, promising huge bonuses if it would just give me what I needed! I began by working out in my exercise room on the treadmill and bike for the length of a movie. I watched a lot of movies……. Then, my daughter called me at work and told me about a CrossFit class she took and knew it was exactly what I would love….I signed up the next morning…and the rest is history, I will never look back. It is not only the AMAZING workouts and sore to sit down, pick anything up, feeling I now feel, it is also the AMAZING people/friends I have met. The first time I heard someone shout my name (yes you Kim Fisher) I thought I was doing something wrong! No, it was shouts of encouragement….I was shocked.

CrossFit is not only the most amazing workout I have ever crossed paths with, it is my therapy. I will NEVER again fire exercise and it feels so good! In the past few months since I began CrossFit any time something breaks aka hot water heater, the sunroof leaking in my car, the first thing I say to my husband is “I am not cancelling CrossFit”

Thank you Melissa, Laura, Holly, and Parisjat, for giving all of us this amazing gift called CrossFit
